Thank you for visiting at Olive & Moor Blog! I can only hope you click away from here today a little more joyful than when you first came. Olive & Moor exists to generate uplifting, hopeful, and truthful reflections and conversations. The internet is full of noise—loud, purposeless noise. I believe we can create beautiful, truthful, and uplifting content that drowns out the noise and anchors us back to our firm foundation, Jesus Christ.
Which brings us to the very name of this blog.
Olive—In Genesis, we read the account of Noah and the flood. Rains pour on the earth for 40 days and 40 nights, destroying every living thing except Noah’s family and the animals on the ark. After the rains ceased, Noah sent out a dove every so often, to test to see if the waters had receded from earth. And one day the dove brings back an olive branch. Can you imagine—after having been on the ark for so long—the hope that would have soared through Noah at the sight of that olive branch? The flood would not last forever! They would be on land again. And so I chose olive as a symbol that the floods would recede. Hope, such beautiful hope.
Moor—I chose mooring as another symbol. We have hope, true hope, only when our souls are anchored to Jesus. Without Him, everything is confusion and chaos. It is disorderly. It is unstable. When our “boat” is moored to the “dock” there is nothing to fear.
